Blaine Mag-Ox 400® to be Carried in Vitamin Section at Albertsons and CVS
-Product will move from behind the pharmacy counter; #1 doctor recommended product available nationwide

Blaine Pharmaceuticals, distributor of over-the-counter pharmaceutical products, announced today that it has gained distribution with Albertsons and CVS to position Blaine Mag-Ox 400®, the #1 doctor recommended magnesium supplement on the market, within the vitamin section of the retailing giants.

This move represents one of the first steps in a bold, new Sales and Marketing strategy for the company - which had traditionally marketed the supplement directly to physicians and pharmacists - and for the product, which had previously been sold behind the counter, even though no prescription was required.

"By marketing Mag-Ox 400 directly to physicians and pharmacists, we were able to better ensure that consumers received accurate information regarding usage and dosage for the product," said Rich Razgaitis, President of Blaine Pharmaceuticals. "Building on the advocacy of healthcare professionals, our new strategy will allow consumers nationwide to achieve the benefits that only Mag-Ox 400 can provide, while still providing a high-level of education regarding magnesium use."

In fact, the benefits of using a magnesium supplement are many. According to Blaine Medical Advisory Board member, Ronald Elin, M.D., Ph.D., studies have shown that magnesium deficiency is commonly associated with

  • Insulin resistance commonly seen in type 2 diabetics
  • Cardiovascular conditions, including abnormal heart rhythms, high blood pressure, and coronary artery disease
  • Certain prescription drugs used for high blood pressure, such as diuretics (water pills)
  • Leg cramps and migraines, which are common symptoms of magnesium deficiency

Unlike many over-the-counter products, Mag-Ox 400 is Pharmaceutical Grade quality. Mag-Ox 400 has a Patent Pending formulation with a 99% dissolution level, meaning that nearly all of the magnesium in Mag-Ox 400 is available to the body for superior absorption. Additionally, "Mag-Ox 400 provides four times the amount of magnesium than it's nearest branded competitor," said Razgaitis. "Two tablets of Mag-Ox 400 contain the same elemental magnesium of eight Slow-Mag tablets, although Mag-Ox 400 tablets are 35% smaller than Slow-Mag tablets. This means fewer tablets for patients that are easier to swallow."

"At Albertsons, we pride ourselves in offering the widest selection of high-quality products for our customers," said Joseph Potts, Vitamin Category Manager of Albertsons. "We are excited to add Mag-Ox 400 to the list of fine products we offer."

Within the first few months of implementing this new strategy, Blaine has been able to gain distribution with more than 6,000 drugstores nationwide, including Brooks Pharmacy and Discount Drug Mart in addition to CVS and Albertsons. Mag-Ox 400 is expected to be placed on select retailer shelves by the end of August. In addition, Mag-Ox 400 will remain behind the counter at approximately 70% of the stores in which it is sold.
